2011 Fall Forward Conference for Leadership & Social Change

On October 15th, Kohl’s took part in the “2011 Fall Forward Conference for Leadership & Social Change” at Arizona State University. The students were provided with breakfast that was sponsored by Kohl’s and began the day with a keynote presentation. They were then given the option to attend a series of workshops ranging from community initiatives, leadership, resume writing/interview skills, and professional networking among many others. The workshops were facilitated by ASU faculty with a few delivered by local community members, Kohl's being one of them. Each session had anywhere between 15 - 35 students in their “breakout session.”

The Kohl’s workshop was facilitated by District Manager Renee Pictor and University Relations Coordinator Thomas Romero. The title of the discussion was “Involvement: Committing to Community & the Environment.” Among the various issues that were discussed were Green Scene initiatives, volunteer work, and innovation within the company.

The event served as a great opportunity to meet talented students with a strong interest in making an impact on our environment as well as turn those interactions into recruiting possibilities for future leaders. Every registered attendee was given a reusable Kohl’s “Green Scene” bag, pen & highlighter. The event also gave Kohl’s a chance to been seen as an industry leader in the area of social responsibility.
